Bad change!
"Have worn this fragrance for years but the body lotion now smells like plastic to me. It is horrendous!! What would make you change the formula? Please reconsider your decision and change it back."

Um...no!
"I saw the new packaging after the first of the year and when I ran out of Vanilla Bean Noel (my favorite), I decided to try Warm Vanilla Sugar. I had tried it a few years ago when it smelled more like Vanilla. Then they changed the formula...again. Why do they keep messing with a good thing? It has a funny "after smell"...kind of like a fake powdery scent in a cheap perfume. I so wish I would have bought more Vanilla Bean Noel because it actually does smell like authentic Vanilla."

Bring Back the Old Version PLEASE
"I purchased the old version of this fragrance a while ago and fell in love with it. I think it was my favorite of every fragrance I've tryed so far. The only problem is that it's gone and this fragrance replaced it. This new scent is supposed to be "new and improved" but if anything- it's gotten worse. I actually came to the website to write a review for the old formula and realized it was gone. Please don't do this to us. I know I'm not the only one who wants you to BRING BACK THE OLD FORMULA!!!"

This Purchase Was Alright
"I went into bath and body works really wanting this lotion. I heard a lot of really good reviews about this. At first I was hesitant of the scent, but I decided to give a chance. This smell takes a little bit to get used to, but I like it."

Perplexed
"I recently purchased Warm Vanilla Sugar in the mist, lotion and shower gel. If i had to name a BBW favorite, this would be my choice, at least so far. I am sort of astounded, I guess, by the number of negative reviews for this scent. This is the best Vanilla scent that I have ever smelled, and I have sampled a lot of brands. I can't imagine what the previous formula for this scent smelled like. It must have been out of this world for people to be disappointed in it now. It is true that the vanilla scent in the lotion is not as strong as other scents that I have tried, but when paired with the mist and the shower gel, I think it is just perfect--delicious without being strong or overpowering. I was impressed that the scent does not knock you over like some vanilla scents do. My only concern is that this might be discontinued based on the negativity. I have finally found my perfect vanilla--please don't take it away! 5 stars PLUS!"

Keep hoping for return to original formula!
"A few years ago, warm vanilla sugar lost it's vanilla fragrance. I have sent emails to BBW and made phone calls. Each time I go into the store, I sniff the warm vanilla sugar, hoping BBW has listened to its customers and gone back to the original formula. Unfitunately not yet! The original had VANILLA PLANIFORA (vanilla bean) listed as an ingredient; that was removed with the "improved" version years ago. So, this is just another plea, PLEASE PUT THE VANILLA BACK INTO WARM VANILLA SUGAR. Honestly, I do not shop at BBW nearly as often as I used to because of this. I do not purchase any lotion for myself anymore from BBW. Please make the change and bring some of us loyal customers back to BBW!!"

Changed for the worse
"I have used this fragrance for over 10 years. My husband loved it and I loved it - that doesn't ever happen. In between I've tried other fragrances but have always come back to this one, usually not even finishing the other one I've tried. I am not the type of person to "stick" to one thing, I like things to be different, I like new things. But, I have stuck with this fragrance because I loved it - sweet, spicy, fragrant but not overly so, and not as fruity/flowery as almost every other BBW fragrance. I also typically use natural products, however, since I loved this scent so much, I was able to overlook a few of the baddies in the ingredient list.
Now, they've changed it and it is not even reminiscent of the original. It is low on "fragrance" and high on chemical smell. It doesn't even seem like a "perfumed" lotion, but more just a bad mix of chemicals, plasticy. I cannot detect any of the scents they claim are in it. I keep thinking it reminds me of my college biology classes (you know, the ones with dissections). Terrible. If I had closed my eyes and smelled the bottle, I would never have guessed it was the same fragrance I've used for over 10 years. The ingredient list looks worse, too. Why change something that works so well?
Anyhow, I just purchased 6 of them (plus 6 of the shower gel) online to stock up for a while. Too bad I didn't know they changed it. Now, you do. If this was your favorite, I would encourage you to head over to the store and see if it is something you still want. For me, I will probably just get rid of these and go buy the nicest smelling lotion and shower gel from my local natural foods store. I guess all good things must come to an end..."

Still good...
"I have to say, I never take time out to write reviews but I had to weigh in on this one after all the bad reviews here. I have been wearing this scent for over 20 years and was very hesitant to buy anymore after claims that the formula had changed. So, I bit the bullet and bought one bottle. Normally I buy this stuff in bulk. Ok... so I had to know.... and decided to compare the ingredients side-by-side with my old bottle that I have at home and I have to tell you... the ingredients are identical. I did notice one thing: this newer version does not seem as thick as my older bottle. That leads me to believe it must be slightly watered down. I still think it's a good lotion and will continue to buy it, but... that said... if anybody from Bath and Body reads these reviews... PLEASE DO NOT MESS WITH VANILLA LOTION. It is a classic scent! If it works and people like it leave it alone! This is actually the 4th time it's been changed since I've been using it and if I had my choice I would go back to the very first original formula. Also, I would rather pay a little more to keep the same quality we've all grown to know and love."

Not Warm, Vanilla, or Sugar
"I don't know what it is about this fragrance. It just does not smell like what it's supposed to smell like. It almost reminds me of rice or stale flour. Very strange. I actually like the fragrance mist, but the rest of the products (Eau de Toilette, shower gel, body lotion) have this odd smell to it. I only wore this lotion once because the smell of it on my arms put me in a bad mood and made me queasy. This is the only B&BW scent that gives me that reaction, and I've tried almost all of them. Try the fragrance mist if you want sugar and vanilla, but don't expect the same experience out of this lotion."

New formula not SO bad!
"This definitely isn't my favorite Vanilla-type scent (it's behind Cashmere Glow and Vanilla Bean Noel), BUT I don't necessarily think it smells totally "disgusting" and unwearable like many other reviewers have said. To be fair, it really doesn't smell as amazing as you think it will in the bottle. In fact, I was just a tad wary of trying it because of how it smelled straight out of the bottle...but I finally decided I needed to give it a chance. On the skin it's a different story. It's definitely a TRUE Vanilla scent...it reminds me of real Vanilla extract with a hint of sugar cookie. Though it's still behind some of B&BW's other vanilla scents, it's still a very nice vanilla on the skin. Overall, I will purchase it again. Warm and cozy scents are the only type I like (with the ONLY exception being Secret Wonderland), and I think this fits in with my collection great!"

Weird
"This is a weird scent. It does not smell like vanilla or sugar whatsoever. It has an odd plastic scent to it, but it's hard to describe. It's shocking because Vanilla Bean Noel smells SO GOOD but this one doesn't at all. I've heard that the formula changed and that it was better before, so I say change it back!"

Warm Vanilla Sugar Lotion Stinks
"I was so sad to just buy 3bottles of my favorite lotion to find it had had changed. I could not wait to get up this am. just to put it on. It really does not smell like anything but some old cheap lotion. Barely any smell at all thank goodness since I wore it to work!! I will be returning the bottles tomorrow and you have lost my business. Since I work in the medical enviorment I am not allowed to wear your flowered sents. Warm vanilla suger was the only one that WAS just a good clean smell. ."

What?!?! I am so confused...
"I LOVE warm vanilla sugar!! But this lotion just smells... odd. I have warm vanilla sugar in the body butter, triple moisture body cream, and fine fragrance mist also. In these forms, WVS is a delicious, warm, vanilla-cookie scent, but in the body lotion form, it has a weird, plastic undertone that isn't there in the other products. Other reviewers have said the same thing, so I don't think I got a dud. Please fix this, because the rest of the line is SO amazing!!!
*I gave 3 stars on the price value, because despite the odd smell, this really does moisturize as well as any other BBW (In other words, it makes your skin SUPER soft!)"

What happened?
"This has been my favorite fragrance for years, so I was happy to receive it as a recent gift. However, when I went to use it, I noticed it didn't smell anything like it used to! It had the oddest plastic smell...I thought something was wrong with me and so I had my husband smell it. He wrinkled his nose, and Warm Vanilla Sugar is his favorite scent of all time. When I asked a sales associate if something had been changed(I took it back), she said no.
Well, unless my family and I are all losing our ability to smell, something has DEFINITELY changed. And not for the better."

why the change!?? SAD!
"Hate the new scent..don't be fooled by packaging!! WHY BBW? WHY??
The old vanilla scent was so clean and actually true VANILLA...this new formulation smells like cheap plastic sugar coated with alcohol. GROSS. Please..if your listening to your customers, just bring back the old formula with no changes to it...it was fabulous in staying power and actual fragrance. I miss the old formula..i have worn this for years. Very sad you took a good thing away from us. Won't be purchasing anymore of BBW again. Sick of your changes."

changed the scent
"they have absolutely changed the scent. please change it back. this has been my fav scent since 2002.. i went into the store yesterrday and smelled this scent. . i had to look twice. it smelled like plastic dollar store vanilla.. horrible. trust me when i say this and i am a fan of this scent.. they changed the scent and i wont repurchase until its changed back"

Did they change the scent?
"For as long as I could remember, I'd always been a huge fan of Warm Vanilla Sugar. I used it for years until the scent began to change for the worst. Years ago, Warm Vanilla Sugar smelled heavenly; a sugary, natural vanilla. Now, it smells incredibly plastic-y and cheap. Bath and Body Works: Why do you change the formula of something so great that a lot of people love? This used to be a scent that so many people I knew loved."

"I received this as a Christmas gift from a co-worker. I love vanilla scents but not this one. To me it smells like cheap sticky sweet drug store lotion. I will return this and get something pretty smelling like Carried Away or Cashmere Glow."
