Pretty and Fresh
"This "scent" is clean and fresh. The reason I put quotations around scent is because it's not really a scent at all. It's so light you can barely detect it, but when you do smell it it takes you straight to the beach. Perfect for everyday wear when you don't want somebody smelling you from across the room. Not like laundry detergent- more like clean ocean air."

Too much "freshness"

WHAT!
"I just read all of the sea island cotton reviews and I don't understand how people like this, as a shower gel that's one think but as a daily perfume WHAT! This scent is powdery and smells like laundry detergent the reason I like it in shower gel is because you wash the scent away!I want to understand the fact that some people like it but I can't wrap my head around it!"

Not my style
"The first time I used this lotion I was pregnant and it just didn't go very well with me, so much so that I would throw every time anyone else in the house used it too. So I decided to give it another chance recently and i still can't stand the smell. It's just too strong for my taste."

WOW...so fresh!
"I'm usually a vanilla-type girl, but I decided that I wanted some nice Springy fresh scents. I had smelled this one in the store, and for some reason it never stood out to me. Today I was shopping and decided to test it out and put it on my skin...HEAVEN! I think this scent has converted me. :) I also picked up a Country Chic, which is similar but more lemony, the Sea Island Cotton is my favorite of the two. I took a shower with the Sea Island Cotton body wash and used the lotion and I feel so amazingly clean.
The scent doesn't remind me at all of laundry. It reminds me of a clean vacation beach house just steps from the sand on a breezy summer day. Bliss!"

So Fresh So Clean
"Is scent is so clean! I don't think its like laundry at all! to me its like a day on the ocean beaches with the fresh ocean air! It also remind me of moving into a new house/apartment for the first time as well when everything is new and clean! No other cotton scents from other brands can even compare!"

"You can NOT go wrong with this product! Like all Bath & Body Works lotions, it's very moisturizing and lightweight- perfect for every day use! The fragrance is AMAZING. It definitely isn't something I would've picked out on my own, but I love it. It's so fresh and clean, and it's great for wearing to school! Love it!!"

DIFFERENT <3
"Ok, so like the title said, this scent is REALLY different. It smells like laundry detergent with a twist but in a good way. :) At first whiff, i was like, gross. But i still took a sample home. I used it. I kept smelling it. I got used to it. So this scent just really grows on you. I don't know why, but i keep smelling a watermelon hint in this. It's so weird but really addictive. I really like this and would have given it 5 stars except it's not really my kind of scent. I like younger and fruitier. This is simple and clean. I don't think you want exactly to be walking around smelling like a special kind of detergent. Or do you? Hmmm... I think I'll also get a mini SIC travel mist, just to spray around the house and in lockers. Very pleased though."

just clean
"good to use out of the shower when u just dont want to smell like anything perfumy however its great to use under other perfume because it doesnt really clash with anything. may remind you of dryer sheets but thats the point just a fresh laundry kind of smell. wont get the body splash in this though will just stick to the lotion :)"

"Sea Island Cotton is overbearing and almost suffocated me with nausea.
This is not a clean scent. Like many of the previous reviews stated, it smells like laundry detergent.
To me, it smells like laundry dryer sheets or those furniture/clothing sprays that try to mask odors. Very heavy, artificial, and powdery sweetness. Like you're trying to cover up an odor.
The scent lingers on your skin for a long time and makes me want to retch. It reminds me of a lotion scent for babies, or the scent you always smell around women with lots of young kids.
I'm not sure what they were aiming with this.. it's not sexy, clean, crisp, warm, citrusy, sensual. It smells cheap and bad."

Better as a HFO scent.
"Fresh, clean, and crisp.I do agree with the other reviewers with on that much.But way to strong.Smells like you drenched your clothes in fabric softner which doesnt stink but its just to much.I perfer it just in the HFO form to mask orders.If you like a overly strong fabric softner smell than this one is you."

Fresh and Airy
"Lovely, long lasting scent. Like you just did your laundry mixed with a clean summer breeze. Smells delicious to the nose. I use this one a lot. I like the spray also.
Why don't you make some of your lovely candles from some of these more popular core and new scents? Paris Amour would be FABULOUS in a candle, as well as this one."

Beautiful...
"I'm so sorry I didn't find this fragrance sooner. I have been looking for alternatives to my expensive higher end line of products. And decided to return to Bath and Body works after several years. Saw this and tried it one day, and fell in love immediately. It is so beautifu! The higher end fragrance that I've been trying to replace is from a very popular company who sells fragrances that are supposed to be "clean, feminine, and not overpowering". One of them has the word "PURE" in it's name. Another one is "AMAZING". I can't say the full name, but those of you who know this brand will know what I mean. I love those two scents, but they are just too expensive to justify them to my budget. And after looking for a less expensive option, I finally found Sea Island Cotton. It is so clean, ultra soft, warm, light and fresh. It just smells like you just stepped out of the shower and wrapped a big warm fluffy white towel around you. I do believe there is a very faint soft floral note to this, because it helps round out the fragrance. Otherwise, it would smell too clean like laundry soap. It's not too florally though, not overwhelming at all. This is just delicate and feminine and clean. I have the spritz and shower gel as well as the lotion and triple body cream. I plan on getting the EDT spray as soon as it is back in stock. Oh and I also stocked up on the moisturizing hand soap in Sea Island Cotton. And before the SAS, I was able to get a couple of Sea Island Cotton Wallflower double packs before they sold out. I Wish they had a matching Candle!"
